Abstract
The purpose of this research is 1) describes the background of the life of Iwan Simatupang, 2) describe the structure of the Bulan Bujur Sangkar plays works of Iwan Simatupang. 3) assessing figurative language and meaning plays Bulan Bujur Sangkar works of Iwan Simatupang 4) figurative language to describe the implementation of the Bulan Bujur Sangkar plays works of Iwan Simatupang. The approach in this study used a qualitative descriptive approach. Objects in this study is the figurative language in the Bulan Bujur Sangkar plays works of Iwan Simatupang. The data in this study is tangible words, sentences, paragraphs. Data analysis techniques in this study using a model of semiotic reading that is heuristic and hermeneutic reading. Based on the results of the analysis of texts, 1) Iwan Simatupang is a writer whose works closely with social satire, culture, and politics, and work closely with the typical style elements of parody. 2) Analysis of the structure of manuscript Bulan Bujur Sangkar cage Iwan Simatupang work consists of plot (plot), characterizations, and themes. 3) Figurative language in this text include figure of speech, idiomatic speech, and the proverb. 4) The results of this research can be implemented in learning Indonesian high school.
