Abstract
Self-disclosure has an important role in building interpersonal relationships especially in relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. Self-disclosure performed by mother-in-law can direct to a closness relationship with her daughter-in-law, even when the law forced entry into the main family because of unintended pregnancies. This research aims to look at the interpersonal communication and self-disclosure of mother-in-law to the daughter-in-law. This Research used a type of qualitative research with descriptive approach. The data collection technique used in-depth interviews to the mother-in-law who has a daughter-in-law because the case of unintended pregnancies. The results of the research related to interpersonal communication mother-in-law with the daughter-in-law has a different interpersonal needs, including the need for inclusion, control and affection. The interpersonal needs will lead to a form of communication that will be performed by the mother-in-law. Another finding of this research is the mother-in-law did not have significant problems of communication against the law. The Problem that often appears due to a lack of intensity of communication from both sides. Meanwhile, related to self-disclosure, results found that each informant has different level of self disclosure depth, including the level of cliches, facts, opinions, and feeling. The depth and obstacles that arise in self-disclosure of mother-in-law be affected by two factors that is internal factors (lack of self-disclosure from the individual) and external factors (environment and time).
