Abstract
Bagasse and peanut shell are an example of underutilized agricultural waste while abundant amounts. Bagasse and peanut shell can be used in making art paper because it contains high fiber and cellulose. The purpose of this research is to know the tensile strength, tear resistance and sensory test of art paper. This research uses the Completely Randomized Complete Random Design (RAL) experiment with two factors of treatment, factor 1: the amount of ethanol solvent (A), A1: 1250 ml ( 1:25), A2: 1500 ml (1:30), and A3: 1750 ml (1:35). Factor 2: comparison of material composition (B), B1: 60%: 40% and B2: 70%: 30%, each treatment was repeated twice. Data collection techniques in this study is descriptive qualitative. The result of the research shows that art paper with the highest tensile strength and tear resistance value is A3B2 treatment with tensile strength 2,727 N / m2 and tear resistance value 3,46 N. Result of sensory test to highest art paper texture at A1B2 treatment with value 1.75, highest fiber appearance at A3B2 treatment with value 1.85, highest color value that is at treatment A3B1 equal to 1,9 and value to highest acceptance at treatment A2B2 equal to 1.85.
