Abstract
Butil methacrylate is useful industrial raw material, pigment dispersants, gluing promoter, protective layer, and raw material paint industry. The plant of butil methacrylate with production capacity 12.000 ton/year is intended to meet the requirement of butil methacrylate in the country and overseas. This plant will be planned on 2021 and built in Cilegon industrial regency. Butil methacrylate is produced with reacting methacrylate acid and butanol in continous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) in temperatur 90ºC and pressur 1 atm,with reversible and exsoterm reaction. The stage of butil methacrylate production is include formation of butil methacrylate, preparation of raw materials, reaction, and puring. In this plant, the need of methacrylate acid is 672.57 kg/hour and the need of butanol is 3,106.04 kg/hour. The product of butil methacrylate is 1,513.60 kg/hour. Utilities for this plant are 42,668.33 kg/hour of water supply, 1,963.90 kg/hour of steam need, 50 m3/hour of the pressed-air need, 83.02 kW of the electricity need from 500 kW of generator and the remain need will be supplied by PLN, and 267.82 L/hour of the diesel fuel need. In this plant also have laboratory to control quality of raw material, product, and waste water. The type of the plant is Perseroan Terbatas (PT). The working systems used in this plant are shift and non-shift with 116 employee. This butil methacrylate plant use Rp 14,797,778,874.35 as fixed capital and Rp 57,628,331,914.68 as working capital. The economic analysis results of this plant show the profit each year as much as: Rp 23,207,178,274.95 (before tax) and Rp 16,245,024,792.47 (after tax), Return On Investment (ROI) as much as: 17.88% (before tax) and 12.51% (after tax), Pay Out Time (POT) as long as: 3.59 years (before tax) and 4.44 (after tax), Break Even Point (BEP) as much as 53.06%, Shut Down Point (SDP) as much as 24.05%, and Internal Rate Return (IRR) based on Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) as much as 17.92%. From the economic analytic we can conclude that this plant is profitable and reasonable to build. Keywords: Butil methacrylate, Reversible, CSTR.
