Abstract
The design of the mononitrotoluene (MNT) plant with the raw material of toluene and mixed acid using sulfuric acid as its catalyst is planned to operate for 330 days/ year with 103 employees. The factory with an area of 40,000 m2 is planned to be built in 2020 at the Cilacap industrial site, Central Java province adjacent to Pertamina UP. IV and PT Multi Nitrotama Kimia in Cikampek as raw material provider. The plant operates with a capacity of 20.000 tons/ year, with consideration to meet domestic demand and reduce import dependence. The MNT manufacturing process takes place in the liquid phase using a CSTR (Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor) reactor under pressure conditions at 1 atm and temperature of 50C. The reaction takes place in an exothermic, rectional, and non adiabaticdirection. The need of raw material in making mononitrotoluena (MNT) is toluene of 1.749,91 kg/ hour, nitric acid 1.749,91 kg/ hour, sulfuric acid equal to 22,27 kg/ hour. To support the production process, a supporting unit of water supply unit of 25.000 kg/ h, steam supply unit (temperature: 240C; l: 1.764,00 kJ/ kg; pressure: 2.319,80 kPa) with boiler capacity 2.121.188,70 kJ/ hr, electricity demand is obtained from PLN and one generator set of 320 kW as reserve, fuel as much as 2,87m3/hour. From the economic analysis conducted on this factory with fixed capital Rp.358,101,411,906,94 and working capital Rp. 115.718.268.954,47. From the economic analysis of this factory shows profit before tax Rp. 118,714,685,065 per year, after tax deducted 25,00%, profit reached Rp. 29.678.671.266 per year. Return On Investment (ROI) before tax 44,86% and after tax 33.64%. Pay Out Time (POT) before tax is 2 years and after tax 2.29 years. Break Even Point (BEP) of 42.6% and Shut Down Point (SDP) of 22.10%. From the above feasibility analysis data concluded, this factory is profitable and feasible to be established.
