Abstract
Acrylamide is a raw material used in the manufacture of polymers, widely used also as a material to purify water. Acrylamide plant from acrylonitrile was established because of the increasing need for the material from year to year. In addition to meeting the needs of domestic acrylamide, the factory is also designed to meet export needs. The plant is designed with a capacity of 15,000 tons / year and operates for 330 days per year. The process of preparing this acrylamide uses a liquid phase hydrolysis process with a composition of 13% by weight of acrylonitrile. The reaction is exothermic, irreversible in a liquid-liquid Fluid Bed reactor. The operating conditions are isothermal (75oC) of 1 atm pressure. Because it takes place under atmospheric conditions, these plants fall into the category of low-risk factories. Acrylamide plant with a capacity of 15,000 tons / year requires raw materials of 728,8519 kg / hour acrylonitrile, water of 1,655.9751 kg / hour and raney copper catalyst. The process support utility includes water supply of 60,419,8041 kg / hr obtained from the water of krenceng cilegon reservoir, the supply of saturated steam of 266,4112 kg / hr obtained from the boiler with fuel oil fuel of 9.0928 l / h, the air requirement Press of 50 m3 per hour, electricity demand is obtained from PLN and two generators of 500 kW as reserve, fuel as much as 65,8553 liter / hour. The plant is planned to be established in the industrial area of Cilegon, Banten with a total of 101 employees and a land area of 18,500 m2. From the economic analysis, this acrylamide factory obtained the result of Percent Return On Investment (ROI) before tax of 40.00% and after tax of 28.00%. Pay Out Time (POT) before tax of 2.44 years while after tax of 3.45 years. Break Even Point (BEP) of 48.06% capacity, and Shut Down Point (SDP) of 29.19% capacity. Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) of 48.01%. Based on the above data, the acrylamide plant from acrylonitrile through hydrolysis process is quite feasible and profitable to be established.
