Abstract
ABSTRACT In learning mathematics students are required to develop mathematical problem solving ability. Howeves the fact shows that the ability of the students problem solving ability of less than expected. One of the attempts to resolve the issue is to implement a model of Think Pair Share (TPS) learning which aimed to improve the ability of solving mathematics problems. This research is class action research and the research subject is grade VIII C SMP Kasatriyan 1 Surakarta year 2016/ 2017. This research data gathering techniques are observation, tests, notes field, and documentation. The research results obtained from the data that there is a increasing of problem solving mathematics. It can be seen from the following data: 1) Showing understanding the problem before 6 students (27,27%), and afterthe action increase become 15 students (68,18%), 2) Choose this breaking problem methods as correct from before 3 students (13,64%) and after the action increase become 14 students (63,64%), 3) Finishing problem from before 5 students (22,73%) and after the action become 15 students (68,18%).
