Abstract

This research is motivated by the number of people who still misunderstand a speech in written language. This study aims to describe the forms of analysis of denotative and connotative meaning on the President Soekarno’s biography entitled “Bung Karno Penyambung Lidah Rakyat Indonesia” and the implications as a teaching material in junior high school class VIII. The method used in this research is padan. The type of this research is qualitative descriptive, with case study research design. The data in this research is the book entitle “Bung Karno Penyambung Lidah Rakyat Indonesia”. Sources of data in this study is the book entitle “Bung Karno Penyambung Lidah Rakyat Indonesia”. Techniques of data collection are using reading techniques, notes and library techniques. Technique of data analysis is technique of power divide as determiner of referen. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that the data containing denotative and connotative meanings on President Sukarno's biography entitled “Bung Karno Penyambung Lidah Rakyat Indonesia” is 89 data, 35 data are containing denotative meanings and 54 data are contain connotative meaning. This research can also be implemented on teaching materials of Junior High School class VIII in Indonesian Language subjects, KD 4.1 captures the biographical meaning both orally and in writing, its function is as an example to interpret a text.
