Abstract

This article has three objectives. 1) Described the form of politenes strategy of the refuse among santri who has background Javanes culture in Darul Ihsan Muhammadiyah Sragen Boarding School. 2) Identify politenes scale of the refuse among santri who has background Javanes culture in Darul Ihsan Muhammadiyah Sragen Boarding School. 3) Identify internalization politenes values formation of character among santri who has background Javanes culture in Darul Ihsan Muhammadiyah Sragen Boarding School. The kind of this article is descriptive qualitative research . The subject of study is all the santri and asatidz even in formal or non-formal condition. Object of this research are words and expressing of refuse from santri. The data of the research is resufe expression spoken by santri. The technique of collecting data in this study uses the method take note and observation. The analysis data is taken by padan methods. The result of this research are 3 things . First, refuse politenes strategy found two types of a speech act. a) Directly refuse expression as many as 37 % or 13 datawith lingual sign nggak, emoh, jangan, belum, bukan. b) indirectly refuse expression 63 % as many as or 22 data with lingual maaf, penundaan, bertanya, alasan, and permintaan. Second, refuse expression politenes scale found 5 five politenes scale. a) Indirect scale of politenes degree as many as 29% or 12 data and impolite degree as many as 56% or 23 data. b ) Fortune and unfortune scale of impolite degree is found as many as, that is 1 data 3%. c) Authority scale of polite degreeis found as many as 5%, that is 1 data. d) Kemanasukaan scale of impolite degreeis foundas many as 5%, that is 2 data. d) Social distance scale is found as many as 2% or 2 data. Third, on this article, the politeness internalization in growing character santri is found 3 things. First, the efforts of internalization process consist of example, refraction, supervision and advice, warning and punishment. Second, factors in support the internalization process consist of the role of asatidz, environment boarding school, and growing the politenes in learning. Third, internalization obstracle factors consist of the lack in understanding of politenes, santri’s diversity, and santri’s habits.
