Abstract

Backgrounds : Emotional and behavioral problems in children is important problem that impact to their develophing phase. Chidren will have difficulty to study, socialization, and increase criminality and delinquency in adolesence stage. Often the parents do not know about their children have seriously problems like this. World Health Organization said that 20 % of children in the world have emotional and behavioral problems. The biopsychosocial stressors like parenting can be the risk factor, and If parenting that the parents give to their children inadequate with the developing stage of children, they may increase the incidence of emotional and behavioral problems. Objectives : This research aims to know the correlations between parenting and emotional and behavioral problems on children. Methods : It is observational study with cross sectional methods. The sample choosen by simple random sampling totaly 54 students, and the respondents should be fill in SDQ(Strength and difficulties questionare) questionere for children, KPAA(Parenting) questionare for parents then it can be analyzed. Results : In this study the mean score of parenting are 42.15 and the mean score of emotional and behavioral problems are 21.57. The correlations test analyzed by Pearson test with normal data, then the correlation score is r =0.338 dan p =0.012, it means that, there is a correlation between parenting and emotional and behavioral problems. Conclusion: There is a correlations between parenting and emotional and behavioral problems in children at Pajang 1 Elementary School of Surakarta.
