Abstract

This study is aimed to describe the teacher’s role in improving the character of the fellow human beings through learning PPKn in X grade at madrasah aliyah Al-Muayyad Mangkuyudan Surakarta covering the characteristics, the teacher’s role, supporting and inhibiting factors. This study uses a qualitative research as the strategy. In collecting the data, the reseavcher uses interview, observation and documentation method. The validity test of the data by triangulation of data sources and techniques of collecting data. Analysis of the data using interactive analysis techniques through data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The result show that the characteristics of the character in the madrasah aliyah is dressed neatly, speak politely, when meeting the teacher greeting and kissing the hand’s teacher, mutual tolerance, and mutual respect for fellow human beings. The teacher’s role in improving the character of the fellow human beings through motivating, monitoring the activities, guiding, providing materials regarding morals, give advice and discuss. The supporting factors in improving the character of the fellow human beings are their support from various parties, all of the students were in boarding school make an easily to monitor and easily to directed, scope between school and cottage not far and teachers who were recruited is graduate from this school and the background of the teachers are graduate from pesantren. The inhibiting factor are age of students in general are still unstable, students who lack strong willingness to motivate their self and when the students get out of the cottage or the school environment there is no accompanying them.
