Abstract

Along with advanced science and technology, the use of a learning media today, especially audio-visual multimedia, is needed in order to achieve goal of learning. Decreased quality of education may be caused by low quality of learning in classroom. A lacked use of multimedia in learning, both those that are available in classroom or ones prepared by teachers, is one of factors causing an unsuccessful process of learning. Audiovisual multimedia such as VCD is able to convert an abstract concept into a more concrete one and thus, it enhances learning material absorption and attention by learners. Based on the background, so it is necessary to conduct research on application of VCD multimedia in learning as author has performed in SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Andong. A problem statement of the research is: Is application of learning strategy using VCD media able to improve achievement of SKI learning of Class X.1 of SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Andong? Therefore, the purpose of the research is to describe application of learning strategy using VCD media in improving learning achievement of students of Class X.1 of SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Andong. The research can make contribution in science, especially about the use of multimedia in religious learning and also it can provide motivation, suggestion and direction for teachers in developing attractive learning methods. The research is a field one with descriptive-qualitative method. Data of the research has obtained by using interview, documentation, and observation techniques and then, it has been analyzed. Based on analysis, it can be concluded that the use of VCD multimedia has been facilitating teachers in delivering learning materials and also it can improve learning motivation and attention of learners to the learning materials. Application of VCD multimedia in SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Andong has been going well, in addition to appropriate technique implementation; it is also helpful in achieving goal of learning. Learning strategy by using VCD of history movie is able to improve learning achievement of students by 20% from initial data of 62.50%, and 82.50% of the students are able to achieve classical learning completeness.
