Abstract

Background: Asthma is a disease of the respiratory airway obstruction caused by constriction of the airways that is reversible. Symptoms of asthma are marked by coughing, wheezing, dyspnea and chest tightness. Physical therapy in cases of asthma one modality treatment with a nebulizer, diaphragmatic breathing, and breathing control. Purpose: To know if the nebulizer, diaphragmatic breathing, and breathing control can reduce breathlessness and improve functional activity in patients with asthma at the Center for Lung Health Community Surakarta. Method:. Treatment on a case study of asthma use therapeutic modality therapy nebulizer, diaphragmatic breathing, and breathing control which evaluated by the method of measuring the level of breathlessness use borg scaleand functional activities with London Chest Activity of Daily Living scale. Result: After treatment for 6 times the measurement results obtained in breathlessness using the Borg scale T1 = 5 become T6 = 3. On the measurement of functional activity at the London Chest Activity of Daily Living scale the results obtained in the first measurement T0 = 18 and at the end of the evaluation T6 = 18. Conclution: Nebulizer, diaphragmatic breathing, and breathing control can reduce the level of breathlessnessin patients with asthma at Balai Besar Kesehatan Paru-Paru Masyarakat Surakarta.
