Abstract

The research aimed to find out the meaning of the song aspect of areas used for the cultivation of character in SMP Negeri 1 Surakarta and to determine the implications of regional songs with character education. This research is a descriptive qualitative research conducted by exposing and deskrepsi aspects of the meaning and implications of regional songs with character education. Source data from this study is the song of areas used for the cultivation of character in SMP Negeri 1 Surakarta and data from this study are folk songs that contain aspects of meaning as well as songs that contain moral education. Data was collected by interviewing, face to face capably, ably involved see, record and record that is then analyzed by the method intralingual match. Based on the results of research on aspects of sense the data obtained contained 73 songs which implies positive in life and education. Aspect feeling and tone contains 15 data, to aspects intension there are 14 data, of 12 folk songs that have been analyzed in it contains 7 values that implicates the moral education among other things: 1) Value Religiosity, 2) sociality, 3) Gender, 4) Justice, 5) Power struggle, 6) Responsibility, 7) Choice the natural environment. 3 other characters not contained in the songs of this area, among other characters 1) Democracy, 2) Honesty, 3) Independence. From the data that has been presented it can be concluded that the SMP Negeri 1 Surakarta have used folk songs that contain the values of life and positive character for character growth learners.
