Abstract

Latar Belakang : Balance is a ability to defend posture while doing static or dynamic activity which is needing a complex interaction between central nervous system and perifer include visual, somatosensation, vestibular, motorik and muscle. Gaze stanbility exercise is a proper exercise because it was basen on pathophysiology fron unbalance in elderly people because of sensory and muscle aging. Gaze stability exercise are the adaptation exercises which are based on the demonstrated ability of the vestibular system to modify the magnitude of the cestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) in response to a given input (head movement). Tujuan Penelitian : To determine the effect of gaze stability exercise to elderly balance. Metode Penelitian : This research was a quasi experiment with pre and post one group design. Sample in the treatment is 14 person as a treatment group. This research was did 3 times a day, 2 days a week, in 6 weeks. The measurement of balance analyzed by Time Up and Go Test. Data was analyzed using wilcoxon signed rant test. Hasil Penelitian : Provision of gaze stability exercise to the sample has pre test mean 11,93 second while post test mean is 8,6 second. There is has effect gaze stability exercise to elderly balance based on wilcoxon signed rank test be obtained p-value 0,001. Kesimpulan : There is has effect gaze stability exercise to elderly balance.
