Abstract

Background: Diarrhea disease still become health problem in Indonesia, especially on children. Approximately 80% of deaths related to diarrhea occurred in the first 2 years of life. The main causes of death in diarrhea is dehydration due to loss of fluid and electrolytes. The incidence of diarrhea toddler in Boyolali based on diagnosis or symptoms of 6.5% (range 3.2% province - 13%), which is where the figure is high compared with 5% in Central Java Province. The General Objectives: To investigate the handling of dehydration in children with diarrhea in accordance with maintenance procedures. The specific objectives: To do the assessment, data analysis, nursing planning, implementation and evaluation of dehydration in children with diarrhea. Methods: Scientific papers prepared using the descriptive method with case study approach by collecting data, analyzing the data and draw a conclusion. Results : From the implementation done one of them is the provision of oral rehydration salts (oralit) and zinc obtained the result defecate in a day from the 10x to 2x a day and defecation are liquid and mucus become pulpy. Conclusion: Giving zinc and oral rehydration salts (oralit) can reduce the frequency of defecation. zink serves to shorten the duration of diarrhea. oral rehydration salts (oralit) can be used to improve electrolyte balance and prevention of complications due to abnormal fluid levels.
