Abstract

Background: Eldery is the last transition stage of human life. On this stage, there is a decreasing of physiological function that causes degenerative disorder. One of degenerative disorder case is decreased function of the muscular system and nervous system. This resulted in decreased function of balance and increased risk of falls. That elderly’s caseinflict tomany elderly had to move into a nursing home because they can not take care for themself and only considered as a burden by the family. Decreasing risk of fallscould be overcome with a static balance exercises. One of stimulation type of increasing static balance is ankle strategy exercise. The Objective of Research: To know the effect and differences of ankle strategy exercise’s effecton the elderly static balance at posyandu and nursing house. The Benefit of Research: It could know the effect and differences of ankle strategy exercise’s effect for the elderly’s static balance at posyandu and nursing house. The Method of Research: This research type was a quasi experiment with two group pretest and posttest and the sample was taken from elderly in posyandu and nursing house who has getting a treatment which is ankle strategy exercise for 6 weeks with 2 times frequency a week. Measurements made with the multi directional reach test with four direction. Data were analyzed using wilcoxon test to test the effect and using mann-whitney test to test the differences of the effect. Result of the Research: There is an effect of ankle strategy exercise for elderly’s static balance at posyandu after the statistical test using wilcoxon test is done, the p-value resultson forward direction is 0,005, meanwhile on backward, right, and left direction are 0,003. There is an effect of ankle strategy exercise for elderly’s static balance at nursing house after the statistical test using wilcoxon test is done, the p-value results on forward, backward, right, and left are 0,005 and there is a differences between elderly at posyandu and nursing house after the statistical test using mann-whitney test is done, the p-value result on forward direction is 0,007, on backward directionis p-value 0,044, on right direction is 0,041, and on left direction is 0,028. Conclusion: There is an effect and differences of ankle strategy exercise effect for elderly’s static balance at posyandu and nursing house.
