Abstract
Insomnia is a sleep disorder that occurs in millions of people worldwide. Individuals with insomnia find it difficult to sleep or staying asleep. Insomnia is generally separated into three types, namely: a) Transient Insomnia - occurs when symptoms last from several days to several weeks, b) acute insomnia - also called short term insomnia. Symptoms persist for several weeks, c) Chronic insomnia - this type lasts for at least months, and even years. In this study, researchers used yoga exercises to reduce insomnia in further. This study aimed to determine the effect of yoga exercises against insomnia in the elderly. This study menggunaka quasi quasi-experimental methods, approaches pretest-posttest control group design. The number of samples in this study 30 samples, which were divided into 2 groups. The first group or the intervention group of 15 people and the second group or the control group. How to sampling using purposive sampling method that samples taken deliberately in accordance with insklusi and exclusion criteria. Data obtained normal distribution, stastitik test using test paired t test. Results obtained in group I p = 0.000 (p <0.05) and group II, p = 0.075 (p> 0.05). With these results we can conclude there is the effect of yoga exercises to the problems of insomnia. Hopefully this research can continue and can be useful for researchers, medical personnel or the general public.
