Abstract
The existence of TSS (Total Suspnded Solid) can lead to the silting of water bodies, the growth of certain plants that can be toxic to other living beings. Based on the preliminary results of the survey at restaurant Fadhila Menco Jalan Raya, Gonilan Kartasura already exceeded the quality standard that is 480 mg /l. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the addition of alum dose in lowering levels of TSS in wastewater restaurants. This type of research is true experiment with pretest posttest study design with control group. The population in this study is restaurant Fadhila wastewater generated from food processing to the washing process of tableware with sampling technique using a quota sampling. Statistical test using one-way ANOVA with the results of data analysis p = 0.000 (p <0.01), so that Hα received and Ho rejected. May mean that there is a dose of alum most effective in lowering levels of TSS in wastewater restaurant. Results of treatment using alum at a dose of 250 mg /l; 500mg /l; and 750mg /l, The percentage reduction in TSS levels of waste water restaurant at each dose that is 74.58 % ; 80.85 % ; and 84.85 % . Decreased levels of TSS most effectively obtained at alum dose of 750 mg / l with a percentage of 84.85%.
