Abstract

Barodontalgia has recently observed due to frequent incidence reported from the divers. Barodontalgia is a symptom of pathological circumstances and generally related to pathological teeth. The purpose of this study is to observe the effect of severity of dental caries towards barodontalgia of the diver at Satkopaska Armatim Surabaya. This is an analytical observation study with cross sectional approach, engaging 154 divers of Satkopaska Armatim Surabaya who were registered by random sampling method. The correlation between variables in this research was examined using Spearman correlation analysis test. The result of Spearman correlation test showed significance value of 0.000 which indicate significant relation between variables, while the correlation score (r = 0.970) showed strong positive correlation. It can therefore conclude that there is effect between severities of dental caries with diver’s barodontalgia on a strong positive correlation where the deeper levels of caries the more pain.
