Abstract
This research is about interrogative sentences in the Noble Qur’an chapter Ar-Rahmān. The aim of the research is to clarify the implied meanings (implicatures) of interrogative sentences. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative research. The method of collecting data is documentation, and the steps are reading, classifying and coding the data of interrogative sentences. The several steps are carried out to analyze the data. In analyzing the implicature, the steps are: finding the main idea, analyzing the context, connecting the meaning and context, and applying pragmatics study deals with implicature. This study shows the variety implicature of interrogative sentences in the Noble Qur’an chapter Ar-Rahmān. The implicatures of the study cover implied meanings of teasing, reminding, commanding, asserting, challenging, warning, threatening, and motivating. Those implicatures are as sign of Allah blessings given to jinns and men. The implication of the interrogative sentences is that by uttering repeatedly the interrogative sentences, Allah commands jinns and men to thank God and always bow and obeys Allah orders. By the interrogative sentences, Allah prohibits them to do any kinds of evil deeds or sins. Those kinds of implicatures show the evidence, that He is “Ar-Rahmān”(Allah, The Most Beneficent) spreading His blessings and graces to all His creatures.
