Abstract
This research focuses on the implementation of Audiovisual Aids to improve the students’ pronunciation of the fifth year of SD Al-Azhar Syifa Budi Solo. It is aimed at describing the implementation, result, and students’ responses to the implementation of teaching English pronunciation using Audiovisual Aids. This is a descriptive qualitative research. The writer adopts Classroom Action Research (CAR) which requires four steps, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The object of the study is the fifth year students of SD Al-Azhar Syifa Budi Solo which consists of 19 students. The methods of data collection are pre-test and post-test, interview, questionnaires, and observation. In analyzing the data, the writer uses three interactive models namely reduction of the data, display the data, and verification. The writer also analyzes and compares the students’ pre-test and students’ post-test in form of score. After analyzing the data, the writer finds that the mean score of students’ pre-test is 7.5 and the mean score of students’ post-test is 9.4. From the result of the pre-test and post-test, it indicates that there is an improvement after the writer implements Audiovisual Aids in teaching English pronunciation to the students. The students’ responses to the implementation of Audiovisual Aids are positive. They look enjoy and interested in the implementation of Audiovisual Aids. Besides, their pronunciation ability, especially in pronouncing the correct word-stress, is improved. They are very interested in learning English pronunciation by watching video, because they can watch the characters’ expressions and listen to the native speaker’s voice. To sum up, Audiovisual Aids can be used as a technique to teach English pronunciation to the students.
