Abstract

This research paper elaborates the techniques implemented by the teacher in teaching pronunciation at the fourth year of SDN 3 Duyungan. There are three problem statements raised in this research paper; 1) what techniques are implemented by the English teacher in teaching pronunciation at SDN 3 Duyungan? 2) What are the problems faced by the teacher in implementing the techniques? 3) How does the teacher overcome the problems?. In this research, the writer employed descriptive qualitative study. It aims to collect information of a phenomenon which occurred. The methods of collecting the data are observation, document, and interview. The subject of the study is limited to the fourth year students and the English teacher at SDN 3 Duyungan in 2008/2009 academic year. There are two types of data, primary and secondary. The primary data are taken from the first resource through the direct observation, while the secondary data are taken from the second resource that can be document data. The data taken from the English teaching- learning process are all activities in the classroom during the teaching pronunciation process at SDN 3 Duyungan that were noted and was no manipulation. The result of the research paper are; 1) The English teacher in teaching pronunciation uses some techniques to teach English lesson for the fourth year students of SDN 3 Duyungan such as tracking technique, and game. 2) The teacher finds difficulties in managing the students in the classroom and implementing the techniques. For example: not all students pay attention if the teacher explains a material in front class. There are noisy students or students chatting with other students. In overcoming these problems, the teacher was eagerly motivated the students.
