Abstract
This study aims at describing the implementation of teaching narrative writing using cartoon movie, the students’ difficulties in learning English, and the strengths and weaknesses of using this medium. The result o this study is expected to contribute the teaching narrative writing. The implementation of this medium was done in Islamic Boarding School of Al Mukmin Ngruki Sukoharjo. The writer implemented this medium at the second year of Madrasah Aliyah. The object of this research was teaching narrative using cartoon movie. The writer implemented this medium and it was observed by his friend. Then he described the implementation of this medium and the difficulties faced by students in learning English especially learning narrative writing. To collect the data, the writer used many ata-gathering tools. There are observation, interviews, and documents. The writer analyzed those data using four steps. Those are organizing the data, summarizing the data, interpreting the data, and drawing the conclusion. Based on analyzing the data, the writer concluded that the cartoon movie stimulates the students to write narrative and this medium is effective to teach narrative writing.
