To solve the problems in teaching vocabulary the writer conducte action research. The result of the study shows that after the writer conducts the action, the students’ vocabulary mastery is higher than before. It can be seen from the result of the observation of the students’ activities during the action and the mean score of written test in pre-test and post-test. Meanwhile, the writer used pre-test and post-test to find the significant difference between the students’ achievement before and after the action. The result of post-test is greater than the pre-test. It means that there is a significant difference of students’ achievement before and after the action. So, it can be concluded that teaching vocabulary using English crossword puzzle can improve students’ vocabulary mastery.
