Abstract

This research is aimed at describing the implicature of praise expression and describing the linguistic forms of praise sentence. The data of this research are in the forms of sentences. In collecting the data, the writer uses documentation method by selecting praise utterances, which can be found in those English Love Songs manuscripts. In describing the implicature, the writer refers to the context of situation proposed by Nunan. In describing the linguistic forms, the writer refers to the linguistic forms of sentence. Having analyzed the data, the writer finds that the implicature of praise expression which can be found out in English Love Songs can be categorize into Conversational Implicature. The first song implied that the girl was beautiful and the writer has falling in love with her. The second, the third and the fourth songs implied that the girl is someone special for the writer and he wants the girl to be his girl. The fifth song implied that the girl`s love and care to him is very special. The sixth and the seventh songs implied that the girl was everything for the writer`s life. The eighth song implied that the boy was the only one that the writer love. The ninth and the tenth song implied that the girl is the only one girl that the writer wants to be his own. The linguistic forms of praise expression are simple sentence, complex sentence and compound sentence.
