Abstract

This research belongs to a descriptive research. The objectives of this research are to clasify the forms of preposition in novel The Da Vinci Code, to describe the translation shifts of preposition in novel The Da Vinci Code, and to describe the accuracy of the translation in novel The Da Vinci Code. The data of this research are sentences containing preposition found in Dan Brown’s novel, The Da Vinci Code and its translation. From the collected data, the researcher uses 250 data. The results of the research show that there are two forms of prepositions, namely: one-word preposition and two-word preposition. The second result is the translation shifts of preposition. There are 8 translation shifts, they are preposition, noun, verb adjective, adverb, conjunction, untranslated, and is not translated. The third result is based on the accurateness and inaccurateness of translation. From 250 data, there are 248 data or 99.2 % belong to the accurate translation and 2 data or 0.8 % belongs to inaccurate translation.
