Abstract
Excessive work decreases one’s ability to compartmentalize work and life. Among other professionals, an excessive work day can set a nurse’s Work-Life Balance off. This can lead to stress caused by work, and in addition to stress, a nurse can experience a decline in productivity caused by burnout as a result of too much stress caused by work. This study focuses on how a nurse’s work day affects the stress caused by work and the balance of work and life. This study uses a quantitative cross-sectional study design and survey methodology to collect responses from 298 nurses who were selected using a total sampling technique. Created questionnaires that assessed workload, Work-Life Balance and job stress were used to collect data. The SEM-PLS method was used to analyze the relationships among the variables. The findings from the questionnaires processed using the SEM-PLS method showed that an increased workday worsened the Work-Life Balance . A balance in work life also showed an increase in stress. The findings suggested that stress caused by work is more pronounced as the Work-Life Balance is disrupted and that a Work-Life Balance is more pronounced as work-life stress is less. These findings also indicated that an increased workday balance plays a huge role in stress caused by work and life. These findings also showed a balance in work and life and less stress caused by work and life is achieved by managing workloads.
