Abstract
The loss of critical equipment within educational environments frequently leads to financial losses and disrupts the academic process. Current inventory management systems, which often rely on manual recording and conventional access methods, suffer from low accountability and difficulties in tracking missing assets. This research aims to design and develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart safe as an automated security and asset management solution for educational settings. The system utilizes an ESP32 microcontroller as the central processing unit, integrated with a fingerprint sensor for user authentication, a load cell for detecting the removal or addition of items, and an accelerometer to detect unauthorized physical tampering or vibration. All activity logs are processed and transmitted to a server in real-time via Wi-Fi connectivity, enabling remote monitoring and providing instant notifications regarding security breaches. Experimental results demonstrate that the system performs reliable user authentication, accurately detects mass fluctuations within the safe, and provides rapid response through alarm triggers and IoT notifications. The implementation of this system effectively enhances storage security and streamlines the inventory monitoring process in a transparent and integrated manner.
