Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of remittance amount, remittance frequency, migration duration, and productive allocation on the welfare of Indonesian Migrant Worker (PMI) families in Japan. The study adopts an explanatory quantitative approach. Primary data were gathered via an online questionnaire using purposive sampling from 50 active PMI respondents in Japan. Data analysis was conducted using binary logistic regression. The results indicate that simultaneously, the four independent variables significantly affect family welfare (p = 0.021), with a Nagelkerke R Square value of 0.278 and an overall prediction accuracy of 74.0%. Partially, only the remittance amount is proven to have a positive and significant effect on family welfare (p = 0.009; Odds Ratio = 4.896). This suggests that higher remittance amounts significantly increase the likelihood of families achieving a highly prosperous status. In contrast, remittance frequency (p = 0.876), migration duration (p = 0.604), and productive allocation (p = 0.432) do not show statistically significant effects at the 5% significance level. In conclusion, the nominal volume of remittances serves as the primary determinant supporting migrant family welfare, whereas remittance regularity, tenure length, and productive utilization do not exert a direct significant impact. These findings suggest the need to enhance migrant financial capacity and provide household-level remittance management support.
