Abstract
SMP Muhammadiyah Program Khusus Kottabarat Surakarta conduct a mentoring program a flagship initiative for student character development aimed at fstering students who embody Islamic values, possess noble character, and apply their knowledge in daily life. The mentoring program consists of a sequence comprising Dhuha prayer, a joint prayer, and a kultum ( a seven-minute religious talk), led by students on rotating basis according to a schedule; every student takes a run. One of the objective of this mentoring activity is to boost self- confidence and thereby cultivate leadership qualities. The implementation of this program, a student to become imam and kultum sessions take place in the morning fillowing dhuha prayer for male students, while for female students, they are held at midday following dhuhr prayer. Several factors contribute to the successful implementation of this mentoring activity in shaping leadership character: Parental support in helping students prepare their kultum material and encouragement to overcome their fears; a scheduling system based on class roll number; and guidance provided by Academic Advisor (PA) and class team.
