Abstract
This study analyzes the representation of greed and class conflict in Parasite through a Marxist perspective. The film reflects social inequality between the wealthy Park family as the bourgeoisie and the impoverished Kim family as the proletariat within modern capitalist society. The objectives of this research are to identify the forms of greed and class conflict, explain the causes of these conflicts based on Marxist theory, and analyze their impacts on society as represented in the film. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method using dialogues, scenes, and visual symbols from the film as the primary data. The data were collected through observation, documentation, note-taking, and library research, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s qualitative analysis model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that greed in the film is not merely portrayed as an individual moral flaw, but as a structural consequence of capitalist inequality. Class conflict emerges due to poverty, limited social mobility, discrimination, and economic competition both between and within social classes. The impacts of these conflicts are reflected through manipulation, dehumanization, and tragic violence at the climax of the story. Therefore, Parasite functions not only as entertainment but also as a social critique of exploitation, inequality, and alienation in contemporary capitalist society.
