Abstract
Delays in concrete transportation and placement can reduce workability; therefore, a retarding admixture is required to maintain concrete consistency. This study aimed to analyze the effect of adding Sika Plastiment VZ at dosages of 0.15%, 0.20%, and 0.25% on slump, fresh concrete temperature, density, strength ratio, and compressive strength. The study used concrete with a design compressive strength (f'c) of 25 MPa and cylindrical specimens measuring 100 × 200 mm, with a total of 40 test specimens. The tests included slump, fresh concrete temperature, density, and compressive strength at the ages of 14 and 28 days. The results showed that the addition of Sika Plastiment VZ maintained slump for a longer period, slowed changes in fresh concrete temperature, produced concrete densities ranging from 2,231 to 2,373 kg/m³, and improved both the strength ratio and compressive strength compared with normal concrete. The 0.25% dosage produced the best performance, with a strength ratio of 0.91 and compressive strengths of 40.0 MPa at 14 days and 44.0 MPa at 28 days. Therefore, the addition of Sika Plastiment VZ at a dosage of up to 0.25% effectively improved the workability and overall performance of concrete.
