Abstract

The Lusi River Bridge in Getasrejo Village, Grobogan Regency, requires redesign due to increasing traffic loads and the declining performance of the existing bridge structure. The redesign replaces the existing steel truss bridge with a Through Arch steel truss bridge, which offers greater structural efficiency, aesthetic value, and better resistance to dynamic loads. In addition, the Through Arch configuration eliminates the pier located within the river channel, thereby improving the river flow. The bridge is designed with a span of 80 m, an arch height of 18 m, and a width of 10 m. The bridge design was carried out in accordance with Practical Guide for Bridge Technical Design, Road and Bridge Sector Guidelines, SNI 1725:2016, SNI 2833:2016, SNI 1729:2020, and SNI 2847:2013. Structural analysis was performed using SAP2000 software and supported by manual calculations to determine the dimensions of the superstructure and substructure elements, ensuring that the bridge satisfies the required strength, stability, and safety criteria. The design results indicate that the bridge deck slab has a thickness of 20 cm. The main arch members and tie members utilize H 400×400×30×50 steel sections, while the vertical and diagonal members use H 200×200×8×12 steel sections. The wind bracing system employs H 100×100×6×8 steel sections, and the hanger cables have a diameter of 60 mm. The substructure consists of 40 driven piles with a depth of 15 m at each abutment. Based on the structural analysis, all structural elements satisfy the required strength and stability criteria in accordance with the applicable design standards. Therefore, the proposed steel truss arch bridge design is considered suitable to replace the existing bridge over the Lusi River.
