Abstract
Museum Karst Indonesia is the largest karst museum in Indonesia, located in Gebangharjo Village, Pracimantoro Sub-district, Wonogiri Regency, and serves as a geological education center as well as the gateway to the Gunung Sewu Geopark area. A major flood in 2017 damaged most of the museum's facilities and collections, so that the existing condition is currently considered not yet optimal in conveying educational value, spatial experience, and connection to the surrounding karst landscape, which has resulted in a decline in visitor numbers. This design aims to produce a revitalization concept for Museum Karst Indonesia as a geological education center and a support for geotourism that is informative, interactive, and contextual with the karst landscape character. The method used includes literature study, field observation, interviews, and documentation, which are then processed using an analysis-synthesis method to formulate the concept of spatial needs, building mass treatment, circulation systems, and educational exhibition spaces. The design adopts acontextual architecture approach based on karst ecology, realized through mass forms that follow the site contour and draw analogies from cave morphology, depressions, and porous structures,developing the museum into an edu-geopark that integrates indoor educational spaces with the outdoor landscape as a direct learning medium. This approach is reinforced by the application of seven universal design principles so that all visitors can access the museum equally. With a total spatial requirement of 5,917.4 m² on a site of 15,700 m², Museum Karst Indonesia is expected to once again become a leading and sustainable geological education and geotourism destination in the Gunung Sewu UNESCO Global Geopark area.
