Abstract

This research is motivated by the heightened attention of digital media to a sexual harassment case involving a specialist medical trainee (PPDS) from Universitas Padjadjaran (UNPAD) at Dr. Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung. The incident sparked extensive public debate, positioning news portals as key actors in shaping audience understanding of this crisis in medical ethics. This study aims to analyze the framing patterns employed by Detik.com and Tribunnews in reporting the case. Using a descriptive qualitative approach within a constructivist paradigm, this research examines news texts published between April 9 and 16, 2025. Data were collected through a documentation study technique selected by purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using Robert N. Entman’s framing analysis model, focusing on the elements of defining problems, diagnosing causes, making moral judgments, and offering treatment recommendations. The findings reveal that Detik.com and Tribunnews adopt different framing strategies in reporting the sexual harassment case. Detik.com focuses on institutional and legal perspectives, whereas Tribunnews emphasizes the psychological aspects of the perpetrator and social sanctions from the public. Despite these differing emphases, both media outlets comply with journalistic ethics by supporting the rights and recovery of victims.
