Abstract
Klego Bade Reservoir in Boyolali Regency has significant potential as a water tourism destination. However, it is currently under-managed, and the integration of the recreation area with the local economic sector (MSMEs) remains poorly organized. This phenomenon has led to a decline in environmental quality and a lack of visual identity in the area. This research and design aims to redesign the 3.5-hectare Water Recreation and MSME Area of Bade Reservoir using a biomimicry approach. The biomimicry approach is used as the primary design parameter, not only aesthetically mimicking natural forms (organism level) but also adopting the principles of ecosystem operation (ecosystem level) and natural behavior (behavior level). This principle is implemented through a stormwater management system that mimics the natural filtration of wetlands, the use of modular structures inspired by organic geometry for the MSME area, and the selection of local materials with a low carbon footprint. The design method used is a qualitative descriptive approach through field observations, site analysis, and literature review on Water Recreation facility standards. The results of this redesign are expected to create an integrative and sustainable tourism area, where architecture acts as a bridge between human recreational needs and the restoration of the reservoir's ecosystem. Thus, Bade Reservoir can be transformed into a new tourism icon that is resilient, educational, and able to improve the welfare of the local community in Boyolali.
