Abstract

The Taman Kuliner MPP Klaten, built with an investment of IDR 8.9 billion, has experienced a severe functional decline with only 3 out of 44 kiosks currently active, low visibility due to a 2-meter elevation difference from Jalan Mayor Kusmanto, and a lack of spatial connectivity between existing buildings (MPP, Dharma Wanita Building, and Klaten Craft Center), prompting the Klaten Regency Government to plan the transformation of the area into a Creative Hub. This design aims to develop the Klaten Regency Government's idea by revitalizing Taman Kuliner MPP Klaten into a building named "Titik Srawung"derived from the Javanese language meaning a place to gather and interact which integrates a Creative Hub (studios, galleries, co-working spaces), a Community Hub (auditorium, skatepark, healthcare services), and a Culinary Hub (culinary kiosks, cafes, restaurants) within a single site in Central Klaten District. The approach used is Placemaking (PPS, 2007) through four key elements: Access & Linkages, Comfort & Image, Uses & Activities, and Sociability, with an emphasis on the principle of function triangulation so that each zone supports one another and encourages natural user interaction. The design result is a 3–4 story building that connects the new Titik Srawung mass with all existing buildings through corridors, Srawung Plaza, and connecting bridges, accompanied by site responses in the form of a 2 meter elevation increase (fill), north-south mass orientation, cross ventilation, a secondary skin featuring woven lurik and batik motifs as Klaten's local identity, as well as solar panels for renewable energy.
