Abstract

Children's growth and development require comprehensive support, both physically and psychologically, including the ability to interact socially and care for the natural environment, but the rapid development of digital technology encourages increasing dependence on gadgets for children, which results in decreased social interaction and reduced closeness and care for children with nature. This condition is a challenge for the world of education that not only develops cognitive aspects, but also forms character, social skills, and environmental awareness. Serang City as the capital of the developing Banten Province has an increasing need for educational facilities so that educational facilities are needed that are able to support a more active, interactive, and experience-based learning process. Therefore, this design aims to formulate the concept of an Integrated Nature School for Kindergarten and Elementary School levels through an architectural porosity approach. The method used is descriptive qualitative through literature studies, site analysis, and precedent studies. The design results show that architectural porosity realized through open spaces, natural lighting and air circulation, as well as the integration of indoor and outdoor spaces is able to create interactive learning spaces that encourage social interaction and nature-based learning experiences, while still paying attention to the need for comfortable and conducive learning spaces so that children can concentrate without being distracted by outside activities. By adjusting the level of openness to the function of the space, the building is still able to respond to the surrounding environment and maintain children's connection with nature without reducing the quality of the learning process.
