Abstract

Bekasi Main Terminal, located in East Bekasi District, is experiencing overcapacity and a decline in service quality, which has led to the shift of passenger boarding and alighting activities to the Bekasi Timur Toll Gate area. This condition contributes to traffic congestion, increases safety risks, and reduces the overall order of the transportation system. On the other hand, the high mobility demand in Bekasi City, as part of the Greater Jakarta metropolitan area, with approximately 500,000 daily movements, requires a more structured and integrated transport node. In response, based on Presidential Regulation No. 60 of 2020 and Bekasi City Regional Regulation No. 7 of 2024, the terminal is planned to be relocated to Jatiasih District as a Type A passenger terminal. This design aims to develop the Jatiasih Type A Terminal concept to improve operational performance while enhancing modal integration and regional connectivity through a Mobility Hub approach. The method employed includes field observation, literature review, and the application of Mobility Hub principles as the main design framework. The design results indicate the implementation of a three-tier vertical zoning system: regional transport zone (intercity and interprovincial buses/AKAP and AKDP), local transport zone (city buses and paratransit), and a transition zone for intermodal transfer. The circulation system is designed with a separation of vehicle and user flows, supported by pedestrian pathways directly connecting all zones. The ±130,000 m² site on Jatimekar Road, with direct access to the JORR toll road, supports both regional connectivity and local movement distribution. This design is expected to establish a more integrated, efficient, and adaptive transport hub in response to urban mobility dynamics.
