Abstract
The design of a resort as a therapeutic space in Batu City, Malang, is motivated by the increasing public need for psychological recovery spaces integrated with nature. Batu City, with its mountainous topography, cool air, and abundant vegetation, is a strategic location for the development of biophilic design-based facilities. This study examines the site's potential, microclimate conditions, view orientation, noise levels, and accessibility as the basis for forming the architectural concept. The resort design is formulated through a circular mass configuration on three levels: a full circle on the ground floor, an incomplete circle on the second floor, and a semicircle on the third floor. This form creates a courtyard as a natural activity center that enhances lighting, cross-ventilation, and visual connection with the landscape. The spatial zoning is arranged into public, semi-private, and private areas, including therapy facilities, resort residences, management rooms, service areas, sports rooms, gardens, horticultural gardens, and a swimming pool. The utility system is designed in an integrated manner to support comfort and sustainability. The design results show that the integration of biophilic design can provide an environment that is restorative, functional, and adaptive to site conditions, so that the resort can function as a holistic relaxation and healing space for visitors.
