Abstract

The growth of the industry sector in Jepara Regency has triggered a large-scale urbanization of workers, resulting in chronic traffic congestion on industrial roads due to high dependency on private vehicles. This research aims to design a worker housing area capable of reducing traffic loads through the Walkable Living approach. The design method used is a descriptive-analytical synthesis by integrating technical parameters of modular housing and proximity principles. The main design results show that by placing housing within a travel radius of <400 meters from the work area, dependency on motorized transportation modes can be significantly reduced. The final design concept implements Internal Mobility and Zero-Vehicle Zone strategies, supported by clustered low-rise building masses and breathing skin facades. This integration not only resolves the area's external circulation issues but also creates a healthy, productive, and sustainable industrial housing environment
