Abstract
The Tempe Murni As Solihin MSME still does not use assistive devices in several of its production processes, resulting in less-than-ergonomic work postures that have the potential to cause musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). This study aims to analyze the prevalence of MSD complaints and assess ergonomic risks among workers, thereby providing recommendations for the development of assistive devices to improve work postures, enhance comfort, and promote greater ergonomics. The study was conducted on three workers at the SME using the NBM, WERA, and QFD methods, and anthropometric data was collected to assist in sizing the assistive devices. The Nordic Body Map (NBM) method was used to identify MSD complaints, the Workplace Ergonomic Risk Assessment (WERA) method to assess the level of ergonomic risk, and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) was applied to identify workers’ preferences in designing the assistive devices. The results of the NBM assessment showed that the workstation for sifting activities had the highest number of complaints, with a total score of 62.33. As for the results of the WERA method, the highest score of 48 (High) was obtained from the screening workstation, which is categorized as high risk and thus becomes a top priority for improvement. The QFD method can identify worker needs by designing an adjustable trolley table that improves ergonomics and reduces the risk of MSDs. Simulation results show that the WERA risk level at the screening workstation decreased from a score of 48 (High) to 27 (Low).
