Abstract
This study aims to describe the principal's leadership role in improving the quality of education at SMA MTA Surakarta and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence the effectiveness of this leadership. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and educational staff. Data validity was achieved through source triangulation, technical triangulation, and member checking. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the principal plays an effective role in improving the quality of education through the implementation of the EMASLIM functions (educator, manager, administrator, supervisor, leader, innovator, and motivator). The role of leader is the most dominant aspect in building school culture, discipline, and commitment of all school members. The principal's leadership is also supported by a strong school vision and culture, teacher professionalism, a boarding 2 school system, and support from foundations and stakeholders. Inhibiting factors include limited resources, high administrative burdens, challenges of educational change and innovation, and the complexity of school and boarding school management. This study found that the integration of EMASLIM's functions with the boarding school system and Islamic school culture creates a leadership model that contributes to the holistic improvement of educational quality at SMA MTA Surakarta
