Abstract

Unpredictable weather conditions in Indonesia often become an obstacle in the drying process of shoes and helmets used in daily activities. Conventional drying methods that rely on sunlight are considered ineffective, especially during the rainy season. Therefore, this study aims to design and develop an Internet of Things (IoT) based shoe and helmet drying system that operates automatically and can be monitored and controlled via a mobile phone. The system utilizes an ESP32 microcontroller as the main controller, which processes data from a DHT22 sensor to detect temperature and humidity inside the drying chamber. A 220V/800W heater is used as the heat source to increase the chamber temperature, while a DC fan functions to distribute heat evenly, ensuring an optimal drying process. In addition, integration with the Telegram application allows users to monitor and control the system in real time through the internet. The results of the design and testing show that the ESP32-based shoe and helmet dryer is capable of automatically controlling temperature so that the humidity of the object can be effectively reduced, thereby accelerating the drying process and reducing dependence on weather conditions. Thus, this system is expected to provide an effective, efficient, and practical solution for meeting the community's shoe and helmet drying needs.
