Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of porting and polishing intake port modifications and ECU remapping on the performance of a 125cc injection automatic motorcycle engine. The study was conducted by comparing three test variation conditions, namely standard conditions, porting and polishing conditions, and porting and polishing conditions with ECU remapping. The main parameters tested include torque, power and AFR using RON 92 fuel. The test used a dynotest tool to obtain torque and power data while for AFR data collection using a wideband sensor. The results showed that porting and polishing conditions without ECU remapping could not improve engine performance. The highest torque decreased from 15.37 Nm to 14.63 Nm, while the highest power value decreased from 7.36 Hp to 7.16 Hp compared to standard conditions. After ECU remapping, engine performance increased with the highest torque being 16.38 Nm and the highest power being 8.13 Hp. The AFR test results also showed that porting and polishing without ECU remapping resulted in a suboptimal mixture, whereas after ECU remapping, the AFR value became more stable and approached the ideal condition. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that porting and polishing the intake port alone are not sufficient to improve engine performance. Improved engine performance was achieved after ECU remapping by readjusting the fuel and ignition timing, resulting in a more optimal combustion process.
