Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of the number of MSMEs, economic growth, the regional minimum wage, and per capita expenditure on labor absorption in East Java during the 2017–2023 period. This study employs a quantitative method using a panel data regression approach, and the model selected based on the results of the Chow and Hausman tests is the Fixed Effects Model (FEM). Secondary data were obtained from official government agencies, specifically the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of East Java Province, the East Java Provincial Office of Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (Diskopukm), official publications of the East Java Provincial Government, and the Governor’s Decree (Kepgub). This study was analyzed using EViews 12. The variables tested were the number of MSMEs (JUMKM), economic growth (PE), the regional minimum wage (UMR), and per capita expenditure (PPP). The results show that PPP and JUMKM have a positive and significant effect on labor absorption PTK, while PE and UMR do not significantly affect PTK. These findings indicate that efforts to increase labor absorption in East Java should be directed toward strengthening and developing MSMEs, as well as increasing the public’s purchasing power, thereby creating more inclusive economic activity capable of absorbing a broader workforce
