Abstract

TB Panca Tunggal, a paint and building materials store, faces material flow inefficiencies in its second-floor warehouse. This study aims to redesign the material storage layout to address these issues and minimize picking time. The approach integrates the Class-Based Storage Policy with ABC classification anaylsis based on material outflow frequency recorded from October to December 2025 and rectilinear distance calculations. The Pareto analysis categorized 40% of the inventory items into Class A, which contributes to 81.93% of the total warehouse movement activity. Consequently, these Class A items were relocated to the racks closest to the main entrance, namely Racks H, D, and C. The CBSP implementation successfully reduced the total picking distance for 10 sample items from 259,860 cm to 123,540 cm. This yielded a total distance saving of 136,320 cm, equivalent to a 52.46% reduction, thereby significantly improving material flow efficiency within the warehouse.
