Abstract

The development of Bukit Semarang Baru (BSB) as a self-contained urban area has increased the demand for commercial facilities that not only function as shopping centers but also provide comfortable, healthy, and nature-integrated spaces. This design aims to develop a Biophilic Mall concept by applying a biophilic design approach through the integration of natural elements into the building. The design process employed literature review, site observation, site analysis, space requirement analysis, and design concept formulation. The proposed design integrates green open spaces, a central atrium with a skylight, an indoor garden featuring water elements, vegetation within the atrium and rooftop garden, and semi-outdoor café areas. These design elements are expected to improve thermal comfort, visual quality, and users' spatial experience while creating a healthier, more comfortable, and sustainable commercial environment through a stronger connection between people and nature.
