Abstract
This study aims to identify types of language errors, analyze their causes, and describe corrective efforts in writing observation report texts by eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Jaten. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through documentation, observation, note-taking, and interview techniques. The data were analyzed using the padan and agih methods to identify forms of language errors, and Miles and Huberman's interactive analysis technique, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, to reveal the causal factors and corrective efforts. Data validity was ensured through source and theory triangulation. The results show that students' language errors occur at the syntactic, phonological, and morphological levels, dominated by non-standard sentences (70% of syntactic errors), capitalization errors (33% of phonological errors), and affixation errors (100% of morphological errors). The causes of these errors include linguistic factors, conceptual understanding of text structure, and affective factors such as interest and reading habits, which are interrelated. Corrective efforts undertaken by the teacher include reflective correction and habituation of standard language use, the implementation of Project Based Learning to strengthen conceptual understanding, and the reinforcement of a literacy culture to build students' writing interest and accuracy. This study is expected to serve as a basis for evaluating and improving writing instruction, particularly for observation report texts, at the junior high school level.
